Millwork - Rough Openings

On interior doors 2 inches
are usually added to the width and height of a door. This allows
for proper shimming, squaring, and plumbing of door units. For
example, a 3/0 x 6/8 woud require a rough opening of 3'2" x 6'10" or
38"x82".
